My love affair with Pentax started with a brand new Me Super, I’d used a couple of Zenith’s before this. The leap in quality was fantastic. I used it for many years before it came to grief when I left on top of a car that I was travelling in with friends, it was only when I we heard something hit the road behind us that I realised what I’d done! Amazingly, the lens survived the fall! Over the years I’ve owned many Pentax film SLR’s. I currently own the following Camera’s in various conditions but mostly still working. A3, ME-F, Me Super, 2 Mv’s, MZ10, MZ30, MZ30 Data Back, MZ50, MZ-M, P30N, P50. I still use film occasionally. Out of them all I’d have to choose the ME Super and the MZ 30’s as my favourites. My current Digital Cameras are the Pentax K200D, and I still have a little Optio S4 somewhere.

The Pentax ME Super that met me on my 18th birthday was a thing of wonder. I took it everywhere (getting funny looks, but some lovely portrait shots, at family funerals in the process). We went to university and on many archaeology field trips together. Many, many slides were produced. On one trip, my Pentax was stolen, recovered by the police and held as evidence for an eternity. Some years later it was stolen properly; I was gutted. But then along came Digital SLRs that could use my old Pentax lenses. K100d then K10d. The wonder is back!

I started my Pentax ownership with a Pentax K1000 that was given to me for my 18th(I think) birthday by my dad. Over a few years I also acquired several lenses. That film camera has been with me through thick and thin.It went to college with me and followed me when I left college. I am now 47 and living in Scotland since 1999. It is still with me as are all the lenses and still happily take great photos. I currently own a Pentax K100D DSLR and usually have both with me when out photographing what hits my fancy.

Some years ago I visited Bangkok and disaster struck - my camera broke! Time passed until I had two real strokes of good luck, a return visit and an Optio 5i. The temples, palaces, scenery, street scenes and people could all be captured and with the freedom of the digital age there was no limit to how many pictures I could take, so the 5i was in constant action. The memories may be fading now but the pictures are as bright and clear as the day they were taken, I just look at them and I'm back there.

Well ever since I can remember, my father wherever we went, had a Pentax K1000 camera hanging from around his neck. You name it I was being told to stand next to it so I could be photographed. He would often set the camera up and explain all the details of aperture, and speeds to me, a puzzled 5 year old, but it was fun all the same. Finally in 2002 he bought his first DSLR camera and told me the K1000 was mine. Although I have a Pentax K-10 now, I still enjoy using the K1000 for nostalgia reasons and general enjoyment. Ace Camera!!

I've been a Pentax user for around 5 years, with an MZ-5n getting some beautiful shots on film, then progressing to the *istD and now K10D. The best thing about my Pentax gear is that it's never let me down, it's so solid and dependable and just feels perfect. Whether I'm out in the countryside in all weathers, on my hands and knees in the garden with a damselfly, or on the beach shooting seals in a gale, I know my camera and lenses will do what I need of them. Now to get me a K-7!

I was given an ME Super by my old man back in the eighties when I started at Uni. I Joined the Camera Club, taught myself black and white darkroom printing and kept busy shooting the 80’s rock bands we had performing on campus. Tragically all my negs and prints were destroyed in a fire when I was living in a camper van and got vandalised! I salvaged the sturdy ME and the lenses and still use them today:the ME for film/slide experiments when I teach photography to the DSLR generation, and the K fit lenses on my Samsung

The Pentax LX is probably the best camera I have used, more than capable of holding its own against more expensive rivals. With its seals and bullet proof build quality, it is a classic.

During my time with the British Army I tried my hand at photography from time to time using my dads Pentax ME super that he gave me. I found its not a good idea to mix trying to be a soldier and a photographer at the same time but while on exercise in Canada I took a chance and decided to take the Pentax with me. I have never taken such good photographs as I have with that camera in Canada and given it was thrown about a lot and that its 30 years old I couldn't be happier.

The first camera I ever bought was a great little 35mm Pentax MZ 50 (duty free), before a safari to Zambia. Years later before another holiday, this time to Europe, I got a 6 MP Pentax *istDs (duty free) a fantastic (and cheap) camera that still serves me very well. Later (seems I only by cameras duty free) I got a K10D before flying to Mauritius. I like the K10D’s more advanced features, but I am now ready for what the K7 offers. My home is full of great holiday and family memories taken on 3 generations of Pentax cameras.

I have taken many memorable photos of my daughter growing up with my trusty Pentax K1000. From her toddler years to teenage years through to her Graduation day. Every special occasion out came my "best camera" because I knew that every photograph would be a great one. We still have photographs of her on display from when she was 4 or 5 years old, one which is probably the best photo I have ever taken, which was shot into the light with the sun reflecting off her hair framing her beautiful little face. Happy days!!!

I've always loved taking photos and with our Honeymoon in Turkey approaching, it was time to go DSLR. What to get though? With Canikons dominating magazine column inches, one could've easily made that choice. I recall my then future Father-in-law had a mint condition M50mm F1.7. Some research indicated the lens and shake reduction works on the K200D amazingly, so I chose Pentax. Anyway, Turkey was exceptional and the best shot was of my beautiful Wife, with the K200D, ‘nifty fifty’ attached. The trouble is, upon viewing my snaps ‘Dad’ wants his lens back - he’s just bought a K20D!
